If you are a meat lover, you probably love having meat every time you want it. However, if you are a veggie lover, then you probably hate when your vegetarian friends try to bring pocket-sized pockets of vegetables into your food.
This is a non-issue! You can have both at the same time! In fact, this is one of the healthiest ways to eat.
If you are a fruit lover, then maybe you know how important it is to eat enough fruits. If you are a chocolate fan, then at least try eating some dark chocolate instead of just drinking it.
X and Y are not always negatively correlated

This is a big “if” that determines whether or not a correlation between X and Y is positive. The greater the correlation between X and Y, the greater the chance that X correlates with Y.
If both variables vary in a more scattered manner, then it is more likely that they will be positively correlated. For example, knowing how many times you played basketball recently may be less likely to think of how well you played last week and how well you played last season.
More broadly, if one variable varies more than the other, then it may be harder for one to reach extreme values for it. For example, if one knew the size of their head in cubic centimeters, it would be easier to predict whether an individual would become angry, depressed, or upset about an event.
This does not mean that these variables do not vary in extremes. It only means that they are more likely to have this occasional extreme value than never does.
X increases as Y decreases

If you change the size of your shoe from a medium to a large, then you increase the distance you can walk in a day. You have more space in which to move your body.
The same goes for your business. When you make a shift in what type of business you have, it increases your productivity in that business.
It is the same with people. When you make a shift in who you are, it increases your productivity as a person.
By having a larger goals range, you will be more likely to achieve them because of the rise in confidence that comes with the wider goal range. You will also feel less pressure when achieving them because of the growth that will continue into my next step.
X and Y are not always positively correlated

This may seem strange at first, but hear out for a second.
When we say that X and Y are positively correlated, we mean that when you add them up, they make a bigger total than their individual values. For example, when you add up the money in your accounts, each one of them makes a larger total than its own value!
This is what correlation means: that two or more things are correlated. When we talk about things being causes, we are really saying that one thing caused another to happen. For example, if I were to say that spending too much money was the cause of you getting sick, then we are saying that spending too much is a cause of illness.
But not all correlations mean that one thing caused the other.
X decreases as Y increases

If we look at our example, where the heart is a red blood cell, we can see that as blood flow increases, oxygen intake decreases and oxygen output increases.
Similarly, as muscle endurance increases, running speeds increase.
This is because faster movements require more energy to complete.
Therefore, when running longer distances, you need to have a higher calorie intake to maintain your running level of energy.
This is because your body has to use up more fuel moving through the system during daily activities. As we said before, a healthy person should have an average of 1,000 calories per day. This is enough for one day!
We also said that a healthy person should have sufficient vitamin and mineral intake. Having enough iron and vitamin C are important parts of being in optimal health.
